Acer Launches 3 New Phones: Liquid Z220, Z520 and Liquid Jade Z



The Taiwanese Company, Acer revealed three new smartphones in the MWC 2015. The three new smartphones will add up to the Liquid series of Acer’s existing phone line. The new phones that were announced are Liquid Z220 Liquid Jade Z  and Liquid Z520.

The company announced that the Liquid Jade Z will be available very soon from March at a price tag of 13,750 INR (EUR 199). This will be followed by the availability of Acer Liquid Z220 which will also be in the market by March and will hold a price tag of 6,150 INR (EUR 89). The other phone i.e. the Acer Liquid Z520 will hit the markets in the month of April and it will be sold at a price of 7,500 INR (EUR 109).


Coming to the specifications of the phones, the Acer Liquid Jade Z will feature a 5-inch 720 x 1280pixels HD IPS OGS display which will be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Acer claims that the phone is equipped with a Zero Air Gap Technology that will reduce the unwanted reflections. Coming to the processor embedded in the phone, it is a Media-Tek 64-bit quad-core processor that is supported by a 1GB RAM. The memory installed in the phone is 8GB and that can be extended by micro-SD card but up to how much, it’s unknown. The Liquid Jade Z also has a Read Mode feature that will take out the blue-light emissions from the image processing engine to reduce strain on eyes. Apart from that it also supports DTS Studio Sound and 24-bit High resolution audio quality. The phone will come pre-loaded with Android Kitkat which will receive the Lollipop update later. Liquid Jade Z will incorporate a 13MP camera with flash and Autofocus whereas the on the front it will feature a 5MP camera.

The other two phones fall under the budget phones category with features being similar to the budget phones available in the market. The Liquid Z220 and Z520 features a new design that is inspired by Thai Silk with silver pyramid mid-frame

The Liquid Z220 will feature a 4-inch 480x800 pixels WVGA display. The processor is a good one with that of Dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 that is clocked at a speed of 1.2 GHz which is backed up by 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage. On the camera specs, the Z220 features a 5MP camera at the back with 89 degree wide view angle and the front camera is equipped with a 2MP one. And software wise, this will be the only phone to run on Android Lollipop from the factory itself.

The Liquid Z520 is equipped with 854x480 pixels 5-inch FWVGA screen. On the processor side, the phone bears a Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and clocked at what frequency is currently unknown. The phone possess 1GB of RAM and 8GB internal memory which can be expanded by micro-SD card. The phone will feature an 8MP camera embedded with a voice-activated feature. The front camera is a 2MP shooter which is quite for the price being offered. On the software side the phone will run on Android Kitkat which will receive the Lollipop update in the later stages.

The Liquid Z220 and Liquid Z520 are available in black as well as White colors. All these phones are quite good for the price being available. Thus, with these phones we will have more options when we have to for budget smartphones. These two phones should be consideration when buying a new budget smartphone.
