HTC is following its rival, Samsung footsteps by introducing new variant phones all following a base version. The company announced the HTC Desire 816G which is 3G variant of the Desire 816 with near-about similar specs. The HTC Desire 816G was loved for its great 13 Megapixel camera. Most of the features between the two variants remained same.
The
dual-SIM Desire 816G features a 5.5inch screen(HD), 1GB RAM and 16GB of built in
storage expandable via microSD card(up to 32GB).
The
HTC Desire 816G is identical to the Desire 816 in terms of look except that the
former is 7g lighter. The glossy back has an affinity towards fingerprint and
it scratches very easily. The white version still has the power to camouflage
them unlike the blue version. The BoomSound speakers are present above and below
the front display. HTC has continually placed the volume analog and power button
on top of the left edge of the Desire 816G.

The phone runs Android 4.4.2 with HTC’s much older Sense UI 5.0 incorporated within it. The camera app on the Desire 816 was loved but HTC decided to go with a camera app from Gingerbreak which is not good app to use. Smartphone makers must repel from using this app in their devices. The lens is slow to focus and click pictures but the situation worsen in low-light. Daylight pictures also have noise and lost details. The Desire 816G managed to play all the videos including 1080p video .
The
Mediatek SoC which is used in HTC Desire 816G is found in much cheaper phones
like Huawei Honor. This configuration is meant for lower end phones. Casual
games run fine on the phone but don’t expect the device to play high end games.
In
our battery test, the battery proved to be fairly okay. The phone lasted for
6 hours and 15 minutes.

Final Conclusion:
HTC Desire 816G is
available at Rs. 18,000. Considering its worth, the price is a little high at
the available hardware and software components. HTC is just banking on the
brand value of this phone.
