The
Canadian giant (Blackberry) is battling it out in the market with rivals like Samsung, Xiaomi, HTC among many others. Once a famous brand amidst the business class,
it now seems to have lost the charm. In its endeavor to get back to its customers,
Blackberry brings to us Blackberry Rio 2/Z20. In recent leaked images by N4BB,
one can see it is very similar to the earlier launched Z3 but its sales pitch
are much similar to the Manitoba released earlier. The
company is campaigning Rio as
suitable for "Power Pros who want to be considered by others as being
current with technology, but cost is a major statement in their purchase
decision".
Blackberry
Rio Specifications:
Looks:
It
has bigger speakers and a longer glass panel. It will be available in two color
sets black and white.
Display:
It
has a 9.5 mm profile. It sports a 5 inch high definition display with pixel
resolution of 720 x 1280 p and a pixel depth of 294 ppi.
Processor:
Snapdragon
S4 dual core processor made by Qualcomm. It has a clock speed of 1.5 GHz. This
seems a bit ironic because all new giants are looking at either a quad-core or
octa-core processor. Though Blackberry has its own operating system that is optimized
for the processor but the dual core could be major setback comparing other
phones of 2015. To compare, Z3 had an MSM 8960 snapdragon chipset by qualcomm.
Operating
System:
It
is envisaged to be running on Blackberry’ latest OS version 10.3.
Memory:
A
16 GB internal memory and 2 GB of RAM are not that impressive either.
Battery:
2800
mAh of battery support is expected. It is a non-removable version.
Camera:
Purported
reports reveal an 8 MP rear camera with LED flash and 2 MP front camera.
Connectivity:
Options
include Penta band LTE 4G, DLNA, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Miracast
for screen mirroring.
Conclusion:
Blackberry
phones have a unique bold look and its fan base particularly lauds the qwerty
keyboard. Though this phone does not have that but it still retains steel frame
and rectangular edges as seen in Z3, passport and classic models.
Blackberry
has just launched a redundant phone (it has excessive similarity with Z3), so the
test remains whether Blackberry has improvised the touch technology or not.
Users may rather revert back to Z3 in that case. According to N4BB, this phone
is rumored to launch in Feb 2015 and will be priced around 300 USD. It will be
released in select countries of Asia, Europe and Latin America. So let’s see if
Blackberry can add more people to its honest fan following.
