This MWC saw some the top smartphones
launches starting from Samsung Galaxy S6, HTC One M9 to LG’s budget
smartphones. But apart from these smartphone launches, there has been other
launches also like the wearables. We already heard about the various wearables
to be launched in the MWC 2015, now lets have a look the launches.
1. HTC Grip
Let’s start the wearables
category from one of the most famous company HTC’s wearable. HTC launched a new
type of watch which is named as HTC Grip. HTC joined hands with Under Armour to
produce its first activity tracker GPS enabled wearable. The GPS enabled means
it will have accurate tracking of your activities like running and cycling. Most
tracker these days use accelerometer to measure the activity which doesn’t provide
accurate measurements.
The HTC Grip can be
integrated with a heart rate monitor to give more data as well. Apart from
running, walking or cycling activities it also tracks your sleeping too. The
device consists of a 1.8 inch OLED touch display with a resolution of 160 x 32
pixels. HTC also claims that the Grip has to offer 5 hours of GPS tracking with
full charging and with GPS off, it will offer two and half days of running
time.
This device will be
launched in the coming spring for about a price of $200.
2. LG G Watch Urbane
We had already heard about
the release of LG G Watch Urbane and the Korean Company has launched this
wearable at MWC 2015. This will be the third wearable from LG. The G Watch
Urbane like its predecessor runs on Android Wear. The another good thing about
the watch is the 22mm strap that can be easily swapped.
On the specs side, the
watch has a 1.3 inch P-OLED screen of 320 x 320 pixels resolution and 245ppi.
The watch comprises a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset supported by
512MB RAM and internal storage of 4GB. The battery that powers the device is a
410 mAh battery same as that of G Watch R. There is no GPS in the device but
has a combination of sensors which also includes a PPG heart rate sensor.
3. LG Watch Urbane LTE
Along with the LG G Watch
Urbane, LG also launched another wearable that is the LG Watch Urbane LTE. As
the name says, the watch will 4G enabled and instead of Android Wear, it will
be running on LG’s own LG Wearable Platform OS. The positive side to this is
that, this watch can even work without being connected to a smartphone.
LG has combined a wearable
and a sports watch together to create this watch. The specs are same as that of
the G Watch Urbane in terms of display and processor but the RAM has got a hike
to 1GB and the battery has also been increased (exact details not known). There
is option to connect to Wi-Fi also.
4. Huawei TalkBand N1
The Huawei TalkBand N1 is
not a watch but a wireless Bluetooth Headset with a mic that also acts as an
activity tracker. But as an activity tracker, it doesn’t measure heart rate.
There is another feature that will reduce your worry of it falling off, the
ends of the band are magnetically linked so when you unplug the headset, it
will tie around your neck loosely to prevent it falling.
The TalkBand N1 comes with
4GB flash memory which can store upto 100 songs as per the company. The battery
should last three days on normal use and will provide 12 days of standby time.
5. Huawei TalkBand B2
This TalkBand is a
beautiful looking Watch. We think after the G Watch Urbane, this is another
most beautiful Watch.
The cool looking wearable
is not just an activity tracker but also acts as a Bluetooth Earpiece. The
TalkBand boasts of a brushed Aluminum finish in which there is a 0.73 inch
PMOLED touch activated screen with HD resolution capability. When you swipe it,
it will show screens like the calories burned scree or pedometer screen. The
battery is able to provide five days of normal use as well as 12 days of
standby timings. The watch is compatible with both iOS and Android.
6. Acer Liquid Leap+
This is the next
generation activity track band from Acer. The Leap+ band consists of a touch
screen core that sits nicely in a rubber strap that can be easily removed and
pop in. The display is a 1-inch OLED display.
The Liquid Leap+ can tarck
your steps, calories burned and even the distance ran by you. These all can be
monitored in an app in your smartphone known as the Companion Leap Manager App.
The Leap+ is compatible with OS like iOS, Android and even Windows Phone. The
watch will be available in March at a price of EUR 57.
7. MyKronoz ZePhone
This is a watch that’s very
much similar to the LG Watch Urbane LTE in terms of functions. Although looks
wise, it is not that much appealing but its good. The phone features a tweaked
Android 4.2 OS. The Watch also has a sim card slot to activate 3G on the watch.
Apart from 3G facility, there is a heart rate monitor also making it a sport
device as well. It has even got even got Wi-Fi and GPS facility too.
The whole watch can be
voice controlled just like Google Now. The battery can keep the device on for
about 3 days on a full charge.
8. Huawei Watch
This is yet another
beautiful looking Watch after its other wearable series of TalkBand. This
device is quite similar to the LG G Watch Urbane in terms of look and specs
also. The watch has got a Sapphire Glass and metallic Unibody.
The watch is run by
Android Wear OS and consists of an AMOLED screen of size 1.4 inch with 400 x 400
pixel resolution at 286 ppi and 10,000:1 contrast ratio. This is what makes it
the most vibrant smartwatch ever. In specs, same as that of G Watch Urbane, it comes
with 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 512MB RAM and 4GB flash memory.
The watch will be available
from June, although there is no word about the pricing.
These are some of the
awesome smartwear that were launched this MWC 2015. Most of the devices are
quite very much appealing both in terms of specs and looks. Especially the LG
Watch Urbane LTE and Huawei Watch. They seem to provide good products. But the factor
that will decide their fate is the pricing of the devices which is yet to be
revealed.
Do tell us what you think
of the wearables that were launched in the MWC 2015.
