BlackBerry Revealed mid-market Leap with 5-inch Screen



Yesterday, Blackberry has launched a mid-budget smartphone named BlackBerry Leap which will replace the Z3 smartphone that was launched a year ago. After unveiling this smartphone at MWC in Barcelona, the company said that it will be available in US and Europe with a price tag of $275 in April.

The company also said that they are planning to launch two more models within the next two months and both smartphone will have a keyboard. One of these device will be a high-end smartphone which is named - a dual curve all touch display. There will be a keyboard behind the slide. BlackBerry Chief Executive John Chen said that we don’t have any name for this device till now but I call it “The Slide”. He didn’t tell any specific date but he said that it will come sometime in this year.


Blackberry leap is a 4G LTE smartphone which features a 5 inch HD screen with a screen resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels with 293ppi density. It runs on the Blackberry 10.3.1 operating system. It don’t have a physical QWERTY keyboard, so you have to use digital on-screen keyboard to write message and emails.

The device has an 8 MP camera with autofocus and LED flash. You can shoot up to 1080p video with this device. It also has a 2 MP front-facing camera for selfie lovers. The handset is powered by a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm MSM 8960 processor coupled with 2 GB of RAM. Internal memory of 16 GB is provided which can be expended up to 128 GB by using microSD card. The smartphone is backed up by a powerful 2800 mAh battery which gives you 25 hours of talk time.

Blackberry which is famous for its software security will outfit the Blackberry Leap with built-in malware protection, encryption services and options to wipe and backup the device. There is some more software like BlackBerry Assistant and BlackBerry's cross-platform tool Blend. The smartphone will be available in white and grey colors.
