Twitter's 'While you were away' feature comes to Android

Twitter is a widely used social networking platform that has been active for some time now. The world is at Twitter and the frenzy of this social networking site extends from students, celebrities, to even politicians. It has become a platform for active discussion and someday it may become even more.

Twitter has incidentally started rolling out the “While you were away” feature for Android users. This new Twitter feature which was earlier having an iOS version, displays a gist of the top trending Tweets that you might have missed during your absence tweeted from the accounts you follow.

This new functionality also symbolises a change in Twitter's Newsfeed that has been displaying all the content from the different users chronologically so far. With the new feature i.e. “While you were away” feature will allow you to view all the important tweets that you might have missed out on in a non-chronological fashion just like the Facebook Newsfeed.

The official post by twitter is here:

Twitter has been working to improve its services and compete well with other social network websites, specifically Facebook. It has been focussing on multimedia as well with video integrations and photo filters like Instagram.

Twitter was reported stating ,"Our objective is to help you keep up – or make up the lost posts – regardless of the amount of time you spend on Twitter. With a couple of changes to the timeline we think we can improve the extent to which we deliver without losing the vision of Twitter”.

Seeing how twitter is actively trying to enhance the user experience it has a great future indeed. Twitter has been a forerunner in the digital media in terms of bringing out flash news. Also the amount of active users on Twitter challenges that of Facebook and this has enabled Twitter to grow by leaps and bounds.
