Qualcomm Inclusive’s own chip wont be present in the Samsung’s
much awaited smartphone this year. The reason may also be associated with
competing technology from the South Korean company other than the rumoured
quarrel between the companies.
Qualcomm on
Wednesday pointed out its failure to win a spot for its Snapdragon 810 chip in one high segment smartphone as one
of the several reason leading to a reduced revenue forecast for the current
year. Qualcomm’s shares have fallen 12 percent since this happened.
Qualcomm didn’t point out the smartphone or its
producer, but it was predicted by the industry executives and analysts that the
company was Samsung. Recently, Bloomberg linked Samsung’s decision to the
overheating problems with the chip.
Snapdragon combines computing and communication
functions which are capabilities that sometimes dwell on separate chips – has distinguishing
feautures that include support for ultra-high resolution video and extremely
quich wireless technology. More than 60 smartphones (LG electronics, Xiaomi Corp)
are currently in development with this chip as quoted by the San Diego based
company. Techno analysts have rated Qualcomm’s recent Snapdragons faster than
the existing Exynos chips, which Samsung had used in its past produce. But the
next coming Exynos models may have a key difference relative to Snapdragon.

Samsung has still not cleared out any description
related to Exynos, and a company spokesman declined to say anything on any type of issue related to Galaxy S6. But it is being expected by Samsung to build the chip
with its new production recipe, which creates transistors measured at
14 nanometers, or billionth of a meter. Samsung smartphones can get some new selling points. The
company reported a decline in the profits of about 64% in quarterly operating
profit from mobile phones. Apple on the other hand had elevated profits in the
same period. Executives of the company spoke on the conference on the prospects
of 14-nanometer produce for use by both internal and external customers. They also spoke on the idea that other
companies also may use Samsung’s chip .
It has still not been said clearly that whether Samsung
might use Qualcomm wireless chips along with its Exynos processor or whether
the South Korean Company will use the Snapdragon 810 for other handsets. Qualcomm
on the other side faces stiff challenge from MediaTek Inc, a Taiwan-based
company known for low cost chips that has become popular in handsets in China
and markets.
