Samsung To Introduce Wireless Charging And Kill The Cords

Wireless technology has been here since a long time. As early as 1891 Nikola Tesla conducted experiments for wireless power transfer. However even today the extent to which this technology has grown is disappointing. We still rely heavily on cords or other physical media for charging or data transfer. However, soon this entire story may change.

Samsung has reportedly been developing the wireless charging technology. Although this technology has been implemented in some crude form in earlier phones they haven’t been really effective or crowd pleasing. The fault of these previous versions that the modules for charging were separate and the efficiency of charging as compared to the conventional methods were very low.

Samsung has reportedly managed to combine all these different modules of wireless charging. Samsung has been reported stating that it had been working to better this technology for some time and now they have created wireless charging modules that are much smaller and thinner compared to the primitive wireless charging device released earlier.

There are speculations that Samsung plans to include this technology in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6. If Samsung manages to release this wireless charging technology then it is in for a major showdown with other major flagships of the year.

Wireless charging is new to smartphones but not so much to other devices. There have been many instances where wireless charging has been used for example in the McDonalds outlets in Europe or the charging tables at Starbucks. Although these chargers are not so efficient, they get the job done. In fact the charging speed is so low that even if Samsung achieves 30% of charging speed or wired charging it will be twice as compared to the existing technology.

There is much to be explored in this field of wireless charging but it is good to see a tech giant like Samsung take a step. Even if the wireless charging is embedded in the Samsung Galaxy S6 the technology in itself has a years to become publicly acclaimed.
