The
long awaited CyanogenMod 12S updates for the OnePlus will be delayed till
mid-late March. And so will be the OxygenOS released along with the CM12S
(CyanogenMod 12S). This stable version of CM12S will feature the updated Android
Lollipop v5.0.2.
The
co-founder of OnePlus Carl Pei also gave reasons for the delay as proprietary
drivers, QA, code and certifications. The OxygenOS is expected to give the
OnePlus users a better localization and faster updates. This ROM will also be
lightweight and can also make the battery efficient. By implementing their own
OS the OnePlus can communicate better with their users and provide a seamless
cloud and a better integrated hardware and software. The company also said that
by making their own software they will be able to upgrade and fix bugs easily
with their users.
The
CM11S 05Q update was made available over-the-air (OTA) for users globally early
this month by the Cyanogen and the OnePlus. Also the Android Lollipop built for
the OnePlus One smartphone has entered the Quality Assurance & Enhancement
(QA/QE) stage and will be soon OTA for the OnePlus One users.
Besides
the updates of the OnePlus, the firm also announced a contest last week. The
contest was titled “OnePlus x Ultimaker Creative Contest” it was posted on the
company’s forum. This contest calls out the public to design a new accessory
for the OnePlus One. This accessory can be of any type to be used with the
OnePlus One smartphone. The design and the CAD file should be submitted on the
