Leaked Images Shows Microsoft To Bring Cortana To Office App

Microsoft’s highly touted digital assistant Cortana is one of the most talked feature now a days as it seems that company has bigger plans with Cortana at the helm going ahead.

WindowsblogItalia has some leaked screenshots of Work Assistant for Windows Phone. When you have a close look at these screenshots, you will find out that on opening the app, it shows all your Office documents at one place acting like a hub. Currently, the Redmond Headquartered tech giant is testing a Work Assistant app that is designed to use Cortana to  edit, open and share documents via voice commands and some more complex commands like email this file to this person or open the presentation yesterday.


According to the reports, like Google and Apple products accept voice commands of OK Google or Hey Siri respectively, for Microsoft the hot word is Office as seen in the final screenshot of Help topics. Techno God Bill Gates and Julie Larson-Green who is Microsoft's chief experience officer of its applications and services team is deeply involved in this project. Last year, Julie Larson-Green said that Cortana will be available in other operating systems soon and Office integration is one of the plans for the digital assistant.


According to ZDNet’s Mary Jo Foley, Work Assistant is being developed by Microsoft’s Digital Life + Work group that is a part of Applications and Services Group (ASG) run by Qi Lu. At a recent event, Microsoft stated that Cortana will be available to tablet and desktop with the latest Windows 10 Operating System. It will be available next to the Start button in the taskbar. So it is easier for users to search for files, videos and images on hard drives.

Microsoft has been launching its apps across all platforms, so it is possible that in future, they may bring Cortana to iOS and Android platforms as well. Microsoft is slowly turning the table and surely they will give a tough competition to Apple and Google with their latest digital assistant Cortana.
