Kill
switches are basically the small gadgets which are linked with your phones and
whenever you remotely press it, it sends a signal to the phone and it disables the
phone instantly. This is a new technology invented by the Apple producers for
controlling the rate of mobile theft.
In London, reports say that the
number of thefts of the mobile phones have dropped to 40% after the kill
switched have been introduced.
In San Francisco, it was reported
that last year there was a decrease in the overall mobile robberies by 27% and also
a 40% plunge in robberies targeting iPhones.
Apple was the first company to
build the kill switches which let people disable their smart phones remotely
and making them worthless to the thieves who are interested in selling them for
the new users.
In New York City, it was
seen that there was an overall decline of 16% in mobile phone robberies and a
drop of 25% in the iPhone robberies.
This initiative motivated the
smart phone industry to move to the kill switch technology as prevention to
theft.
Apple's company in California was
the first to consent the kill switches in smart phones, and passing a law that
will be in effect from July 2015.
Moreover, Google added another smart phone disabling
feature to the Lollipop version in the Android mobile device software, and
Microsoft is expected to have the capability built into a version of its smart
phone operating system.
