We
all are aware that Ubuntu powered mobile phone is live and is expected to be released in forthcoming days. If you wanna experiment the operating system
on your nexus devices, here’s a very easy
tutorial that guides you in dual booting between Android Lollipop and Ubuntu touch OS on your
Nexus.
Prerequisites
Procedure
- Install
MultiROM manager App from Google Play Store.
- Grant
it Super user rights and you will see the following options as shown below.
The
kernel requires a kexec-hardboot patch to be able to dual/multi boot. Most custom kernels
like ElementalX have this feature. If you are on stock kernel, let MultiROM
manager get the patched version for you along with compatible TWRP Recovery.
Dont panic!!
This
process is too easy, just select all the check boxes and tap on install and let MultiROM
manager do all the things for you.
- After the successful flashing of TWRP, in the
home screen of MultiROM manager scroll down to the section Install Ubuntu Touch and tap on Install
button.
- Now
wait till the download of required files and after successful installation, restart the mobile and you will find Ubuntu Touch installed!!!
- You
can now select booting between Android OS and Ubuntu Touch.
Final
conclusion
You
have successfully installed Ubuntu Touch OS on your Nexus. You can even try out
Firefox OS, SailFish OS using MultiROM manager. If you have liked this article please spare a
