Hands-On With Kodak's First Android Phone



As we know that Kodak is basically photo oriented and focuses on quality and depth of photos. It has made a revolution in the modern photography.

This transition of Kodak from photos to smartphones has convinced others to tread a path different from others. We had a chance to go hands-on and know about Kodak's first Android phone called the Kodak IM5 launched at CES 2015. It is indeed made by the Bullitt Group, which also manufactures the rugged CAT phone. Kodak’s phone depicts an easy transition between flip phones and the first real smartphone.

The Kodak IM5 is a dual-SIM smartphone running on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system, promising an upgraded to Android Lollipop. It has 1.7 GHz octa-core MediaTek processor coupled with 1 GB RAM and an internal memory of 8 GB which is expandable up to 32 GB via microSD card slot.

The IM5 features a 5-inch 720p HD display and a simplified UI with big and bold icons. Talking about the cameras, a 13MP auto-focus rear camera and a 5MP selfie shooter adds an expected charm to the phone. The main camera having auto focus has a unique image management software as the camera app also allows for elementary edits and a symbol which, at the touch of a button, lets users quickly edit photographs and is very handy for displaying them on the device, sharing on social media or printing using a customized app which is compatible with home printers.




Besides this the Kodak IM5 has a dedicated app store called ‘Apps’. It offers a quick and easy access to any hand-picked selection of applications suited to the user’s interests. Moreover, there is also a full access to Google Play. Most uniquely, the IM5 also comes with remote government program that lets a tech-savvy crony or relations of an owners yielding assistance and troubleshooting from any PC or tablet.

Kodak’s initial Android would cost €229 in Europe and eventually for US $249 online which is around £185 or AU$335.This phone would be fit for those who value the brand Kodak and need a 13 MP camera quality in low budget with easy access and good looks.
