Project Ara Involves Toshiba Camera Modules | Unveiling At MWC

Google's project Ara got the attention of the whole world as soon as it was officially announced in February 2014. Knowing the fact that Toshiba and Einfochips are working as partners for Google's project to provide the chips, there are reports that the enterprise has started showing camera modules and the modules will be available in two versions i.e. 13 megapixels and 5 megapixels and a 2 megapixel front facing module.

According to the official statement from Shardul Kazi who is the Senior Vice President of Toshiba, the enterprise has fabricated three design modules, one of them is a receiver bar i.e. the 2 MP module coming on top of the Display module, the second being the 5 MP module which has a built-in ISP and the final one being the 13 MP module that supports high frame rate and bright mode. The whole is supposedly divided in 3 phases. The basic phone functions to be covered in the first are features like NFC module, WPC module, Memory module; and the Transfer Jet is to be covered in second phase and the third phase will cover some interesting and unique features which are undisclosed yet.
