Asus has confirmed officially that six of its devices (and their variants) will be receiving an update to
Android 5.0 Lollipop from April onwards.
The list of
android smartphones planned to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop in April 2015 includes
the most admired Asus ZenFone series of smartphones –ZenFone 5, 4, 6 - together with Padfone S and Padfone
Infinity (second generation) in June 2015.
Notably, top brands like Google, HTC, Sony, Samsung, Motorola and LG have already exposed the list of their smartphones likely
to be given the update to Android v5.0.
Meanwhile, Samsung has also hinted
about few costly smartphones
likely to receive the update. Some of the outstanding features of the Android v5.0
Lollipop version comprise a
cleaner, extra fluid UI interface with a flatter-design and animations. At the same instance, users will be
able to see a Quick Settings menu, completely rebuilt which includes new
controls such as a flashlight, cast screen controls, hotspot and more. The lock-screen now displays fresh notifications
and consumer can inspect and react to messages uninterruptedly directly from
the lock-screen.
Alternatively, Android 5.0 Lollipop comes with an opt-in
kill switch called ‘Factory Reset Protection’; this upcoming new feature will permit
users to wipe out the device’s data on will. There is also a new Messenger app,
a user guest-mode with customs options for access. The screen pinning that lets
users to fix in place the screen that is displayed without allowing guest to go
any further. Google has also improved or added the new battery saver feature,
which is claimed to improve the device’s battery life by up to 90 minutes.
