Apple Sets Maximum Limit for Apps to 4GB

Often iphones stand of their class and rich hardware configuration. Their fast processors and high quality screen resolution was not being used properly because of the maximum size allowed for any app was 2 GB. But now that has been solved with Apple announcing on Thursday that they are increasing the maximum allowed size from 2 GB to 4GB.

But there is only one problem associated with it and guess what that is. I think you got it, yes the limited memory problem faced by most of the iphone and ipad users and this decision by Apple leaves them in bit of an awkward situation. Suppose you have 8 GB of storage as it is the case with iphone 5C, then after removing the space required for iOS installation, you will have 5GB left then you can install only one app and have 1 GB left for all the other stuff. This decision is kind of a surprise because the enterprise has expanded the limit for the first time since the debut of App Store in 2008.

The Metal development tool to create advanced graphics for iOS applications was made available in September, and because of the 2 GB size limit, game developers had to provide additional features available for download separately. Apple justified their decision by saying that the increase limit would allow developers to include more media in the apps and provide a rich experience after installation. This change is made to the apps which are downloaded through Wi-Fi connection, however there is no change in 100 MB limit policy for downloading apps over cellular networks. It is difficult to criticize Apple's decision as such but doubling the size might not fare well with the users.
