Amazon Fire Phone Price Reduced Drastically

Amazon slashed the price of its tablet Fire recently realizing the flaw in its pricing policy. Formerly the tablet was priced at $649 (comparable to iPhone) with 2 year AT & T service deal in June 2014. Then prices dropped to $450 without contract or free AT & T service, around September. Still six months later, Amazon cut down the prices upto $200 (approx). At this price, it is just competing the low end smartphones like moto G. Now, the unlocked phone sells at $200 without a contract. By unlocked, it means it can work on any GSM worldwide. Amazon Senior vice president of devices David Limp also confessed that their pricing strategy was an utter failure.

It comes with a 4.7 inch screen, 13 MP camera, Snapdragon 800 processor (quad core) clocked at 2.2 GHz, 2GB RAM and 32 GB internal memory. Amazon fire was advertised with 3D effects but it wasn't quite impressive or selling off shelves. The technology behind its 3D effect is the stack of front facing cameras that find the face position to give a Dynamic perspective. Menus can be accessed just by tilting the phone. The phone had a poor UI and those accustomed to Android or iPhone will find it very frustrating to use. There is no play store from Google though there are kindle apps and amazon apps at your easy disposal.

Though the phone is not like the other high end smartphones, its price was and thus
didn't sell as good as anticipated. Rumors say amazon phone will slash it prices for a day to $99. It is a desperate attempt to sell some devices and get back in the market but the question is whether people will really like it?
