We have seen various type
of products in the electronics world, like google glass, apple watches and more
we will be seeing Wearable Tomatoes. This news is from Tokyo Japan, where a
vegetable juice maker made a wearable tomato machine which is named as “Tomatan”.
The Tomatan is actually backpack that can be loaded with six mid-sized tomatoes
to power up and provide energy to the runners in this weekend’s Tokyo Marathon.
Shigenori Suzuki of maker
Kagome said that, Tomatoes contain a lot of nutrition that fights fatigue. In
looks, Tomatan looks like a small humanoid robot that has a tomato for the
head. It sits on the athlete’s shoulders. It has normal metal arms to hold the
tomatoes. Tugging a lever present at the foot, moves the arms of the humanoidrobot to catch a tomato coming out from the dispenser shoot. The arms then
rotate the tomato and bring it in front of the athlete’s mouth.
Novmichi Tosa, creator of
Meiwa Denki said that they had used about 100 tomatoes to complete the machine.
And he also said that they had mostly focused on the looks of the humanoid
robot to make it appealing.
The device weighs around 8
kgs; Kagome’s Suzuki said that he will trial the device for a five kilometer
fun-run on this coming Saturday. Tosa said that, he will be running by his side
carrying his tools like an F1 mechanic.
In Sunday’s Tokyo marathon,
a runner from Kagome will also be participating wearing a lighter version of
the Tomatan. This version of Tomatan only weighs around 3 kgs. This
Petit-Tomatan has a delivery tube linked to a mini-tomato holster worn on the
runner’s back pack. There is also a timer that prevents the user from
over-depending and depleting their supply quickly.
