OnePlus Introduces Its Own Oxygen OS To Replace CyanogenMod

What comes to your mind when you hear the word oxygen? Well, yeah, it is fair to say that everyone thinks of the oxygen we breathe and all that stuff. But we are surely not going to tell you the fundamental reaction of oxygen because that'll be awful, instead we are going to talk about the new Oxygen OS announced by OnePlus recently.

OnePlus One is one of the hottest topics recently with all the stuff going on with OnePlus and Cyanogen. It has been now revealed that OnePlus has come up with their own OS "Oxygen". All of this started with OnePlus posting a teaser which was an image of the periodic table on their Wiebo account. Some thought that it was regarding their new back cover made up of metal or something.

On Friday, they revealed that they are going to name their new ROM as Oxygen which reminds me of the competition they held a while back where they asked us to suggest a name and looks like they have come up with this one. Speculations about OnePlus launching their own OS started with their spat with Cyanogen after the delay of release of OnePlus One in India, after which the fact that OnePlus One turns up in U.S without Cyanogen branding on them just confirmed it.

There were rumors that Oxygen could be available for download on 12 Feb but for now, you can only expect further information as they have revealed nothing about the product up to now. What this ROM means to OnePlus is clear from their comments and why not, now they are not dependent on others, now they have a software that is open, that can be customized, that is free of bloat and also unnecessary features.
