Kodak: All Set To Enter The World Of Smartphones

Kodak is all set to enter the smartphone realm with its first warrior Kodak IM5. Kodak is a joint venture with British firm Bullitt to bring out its first Smartphone IM5. Bullitt is a British firm known for its phone designs. Kodak's first device is a photo focused smartphone from its core.

Eileen Murphy, VP Brand Licensing at Kodak said that 'It took their heritage and experience in photographic technology and combined it with Bullitt’s expertise in designing high-quality devices'. Thus the final outcome of the joint venture of Kodak and Bullitt is called a smartphone but it’s just a smartphone or we can only call it a smartphone.

Design and Display:

The phone is light in weight and good looking. The device has a plastic built and has a 5-inch display that is counted as high-definition, albeit just barely. It has volume buttons on the right side and a power button at the top that are a little weak to press.
It has as 720x1280p resolution display with a 5 inch capacitive touchscreen which is easy to use.

Camera features:

The Kodak IM5 is blessed with a 13MP auto-focus rear camera with its real power of unique image management that bullitt has provided the smartphone which makes taking, storing and printing photos simple and quick.
Though the camera has a 5MP front camera, but doesn’t click a “Kodak Level” Selfie. Click 'Kodak Moments' with ease and simple but it would be better if you don’t expect a Kodak film quality.

Processor and Speed:

The first smartphone of Kodak is powered with a 1.7 GHz octa-Core processor from Mediatek chipset (probably the MT6592) and 1GB of ram onboard. IM5 runs on the current android version kitkat 4.4 will soon be getting an update of Android Lollipop v5.0.
It has 8 GB of built in storage which can be further extended to 32 GB with a microSD card.

Final Conclusion:

Kodak’s first smartphone IM5 is just a simple smartphone. It has not so good built quality, the screen is not a full high resolution and the camera doesn’t stand up to its name (Kodak). Frankly speaking the market has better phone at lower prices. My verdict for the Kodak IM5 is No.
