At
the consumer electronics show of 2015 LG is about to dazzle everyone with its
new phone LG G flex 2. It is much similar to the earlier launched LG G flex. Pictures
leaked all over the internet even before the announcement of the device but not much
is known about the phone yet. The phone is designed to bend and the curved
display is apparently something to boast off. To add another feather to its
cap, LG also uses the new Snapdragon 810 for processing.
LG G Flex 2 Display:
The
back panel is self-healing with better performance than LG G Flex which took
three minutes to heal and seemed futile. The G Flex 2 panel heals in just 10
seconds at room temperature. The dynamic design will give a better hold on the
phone because the microphone comes closer to your mouth and makes it as
convenient as telephones for conversing. The technology used is LG’s plastic
OLED which was also seen in LG G watch R. The toughness has been increased upto
20 percent by a glass covering that receives some sort of chemical treatment.
Some
other remarkable features:
Physical
dimensions are 5.87 x 2.96 x 0.27 (149.1 x 75.3 x 7.1 mm) inch at the thinnest
point and 5.87 x 2.96 x 0.37 inch (149.1 x 75.3 x 9.4 mm) at the thickest
point.
5.5 inch and 1080 pixels display; higher resolution and pixel depth than that seen in LG G flex (6 inch and 720 pixels display).
The
processor in this smartphone is something to look out for as it has a 64-bit
processor with a clock speed of 2 GHz. This octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor
is one marvel feature of LG G flex 2.
The
processor coupled with a 2 GB DDR4 RAM is sure to provide a smooth user
experience.
Internal memory might be 16 or 32 GB.
Speaking
of imaging, the camera has improved a lot. A 13 megapixels camera with sharp
auto focus is the way to go. Selfie addicts may sense some disappointment as
the front camera is just 2 MP.
LG has also introduced three new gestures with
this phone. Firstly, the gesture shot i.e. a hand gesture to take selfies. Secondly,
the gesture move that lets you view the last photo taken. Thirdly Glance view
which is achieved by swiping down the screen when the device is still off. It
shows the time, recent messages, notifications and missed calls. Fourthly, Fast
charge which enables 50 percent charging in 40 minutes only.
As
far as connectivity is concerned, the phone has to offer 4G/LTE/HSPA 21/42
Mbps, Bluetooth Smart ready 4.1, NFC, SlimPort, Wifi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, A-GPS /
Glonass, USB 2.0.
Battery
is 3000 mAh.
Operating
system is android lollipop as expected.
Conclusion:
LG’s
flagship phone is eminently an epitome of innovation but there are some
drawbacks too, the front camera and the RAM most importantly. Front camera is
too low in resolution and 2 GB RAM is not impressive for 2015 where there will
be phones with 8 GB of RAM. The phone will stand vulnerable because of humongous
competition from Sony Xperia Z4, Samsung Galaxy S6, Note 5 and Iphone 6c.
