Kodak, the world wide
known camera maker has decided to launch its first ever Android Smartphone. The
company has recently emerged from its bankruptcy. The company yesterday
announced that its first smartphone will be revealed in the coming CES 2015 to
be held in the month of January at Las Vegas. That’s not all, the company also
said that the launch will be followed by a tablet, a 4G handset and a connected
camera. With these announcements it seems like Kodak is planning to take on the
smartphone market in this coming New Year. The other products will be launched
mostly by the second half of 2015.
Regarding the upcoming
phone, Kodak has teamed up with the British-based Company Bullit that will make
most of the components of the smartphone. Bullit Group, an English
Multinational, makes a range of ultra-rugged smartphones for the Caterpillar
Construction Firm.

Kodak says that the
upcoming smartphones will be aimed at consumers who want to have high-end experience
but are uncomfortable with the complicated devices. The Company has promised
that the smartphone will be incorporated with great design, style and with a
very user-friendly UI. The in-depth details are still under the curtains from
us now, but apparently the main focus will be on the camera and imaging
qualities as Kodak is wide known for that. Kodak has also said that the
upcoming phones and tablets will be preloaded with bespoke image capture,
sharing and management features for a rich user experience. Apart from that the
device will consist of remote management software to help guide family members
and friends along the various functions.
With the launch of these
phones, it will provide a tough competition to the tech giants like Samsung
(for Galaxy S4 Zoom and Galaxy K Zoom) and also it may provide a competition
the HTC’s ultrapixel camera even. And also to Panasonic which launched the
Lumix DMC-CM1, an android-based camera smartphone equipped with Leica Lens,
last September.
Kodak is a quite recognizable
brand, but still upcoming from the bankruptcy and now producing devices that
are not of its firm will be quite a big challenge. Kodak has emerged from
bankruptcy just last September. The company shutdown or spun off its various
consumer departments (including its digital photography team) and is now
focusing on commercial printing. What is Kodak trying to build up with this
Smartphone division and how much fame will it gain are the questions now
arising.
