Sometimes you need to attend video conferencing or any
other video call by your PC instead of your android mobile. And when you want
to start these calls you need to have a web cam. So if you don’t have any, then
you can use your android mobile as a web cam.
There are many apps like IP Webcam, DroidCam etc which can be used to convert your mobile into web cam. You just need to install the Android mobile app and the PC Client as well.

IP Webcam Mobile App.
If you have installed IP Webcam in your mobile then you
can connect your mobile to PC using Wifi. It can turn your mobile camera as a PC
wireless web cam with many and multiple viewing options. The platform needed in
PC can be VLC media player or any web browser. Better to go with Google Chrome
if you are using web browser.
Just connect your mobile to your PC using a wireless
router or with any shared wifi network. When you will open the app you will get
a configuration screen, where you will get an option to set option for port,
video quality, sound and username and password. Better go with default options
they are good enough. Click on “Start Server” option. After this the App will
start your mobile camera and start streaming the video to a particular port and
IP address.
There will be a button on the top left “How do I
connect”, click on that and choose “I’m using wifi Router”. After doing this
you will get a link like “http://10.41.42.98.7098”. Note down this address and
you need to type this same address in your PC Browser. After doing this, it
takes to you a page with many links. From the list chose any one link depending
on your PC’s Operating system(Window/Linux).
You are done now. Now open any video call application
or Skype for the video call. Chose the webcam driver you just installed and
start it.

DroidCam Mobile App.
DroidCam is freely available software that can convert
your Android mobile into web cam for window PC. You just need to install this
app in your android mobile and a PC Client as well. It is very simple in use.
DroidCam app provides you 4 options to connect your
mobile with your PC.
i)
Wifi Mode: Connect your mobile with your PC
using any wireless router or shared wifi and then use your mobile as web cam.
It is easy to setup. Just copy the details of Device IP and DroidCam port and
enter them on the PC client.
ii)
USB mode: As the name suggest, you need an
USB data sinking cable to connect your mobile to your PC. Better to go with
Wifi mode but if you PC don’t have Wifi option then you can go with this. Due
to missing of some drivers, advance configurations required by this type of
connection.
iii)
Wifi server: This mode is only applicable if
you are using the paid version of mobile app. This type of connection requires
3G/LTE network.

Bluetooth Server: You can connect your
device with your PC through Bluetooth but for doing this; you need to have the
paid version of mobile app.
After installing your
DroidCam app in your mobile and PC you can start video call through Skype or
any other Video calling Software.
