It
is funny how the company tries to convince you that you can do whatever you
want with your HTC One M8. But deep inside, you know that it is not possible
until you unleash the full potential of your phone. To do so, you need to
unlock the bootloader and root your phone. Here’s how you can control each and
every part of your phone.
PREREQUISITE
1. Phone is at least 70% charged
2. You have an account at HTCDev.com
3. Backup all your data
5. Enable USB debugging
6. Uncheck Fast Boot from Setting>Power
PROCEDURE
Step
1- Shut down your phone, then press Power + Volume Down button to open
bootloader menu.
Step
2- Press Power button to enter FASTBOOT mode.
Step
3- Now suit up and take the USB cable and connect your phone with your PC.
Step
4- Download fastboot.zip and unzip it to
get a fastboot folder, download the CWM recovery for your model from link and
then paste the downloaded .img file in this folder.
Step 5- Open
command prompt and then specify the path of the folder fastboot and then type “
fastboot oem get_identifier_token” (for windows only) and then
copy the identifier token.
Step 7-“Begin Unlock Bootloader” is to be selected
after your selection for the phone model is selected.
Step 8-Keep going until you find a new dialogue
box. This new box is pertaining to a text asking for the identifier code.
Step 9-Paste your identifier code in the
above mentioned box.
Step 10- Now download the file which you
received on your e-mail account and paste it in fastboot folder.
Step 11- You will see a command box in
which you have to specify the path of the folder.
Step 12-This is the same command box in which
you have to type this-> “
fastboot flash unlocktoken
Unlock_code.bin”
Step 13- Now
your phone will prompt to unlock bootloader, use volume button to scroll and
power button to select “yes”.
Step 14-Now
the rebooting of the device will take place following which you will be able to
see the brand new phone in your hands.
Step 15-
Make sure to enable the USB Debugging and uncheck the Fast Boot.
Step 16- Download SuperSU zip file and copy it in
your htc smartphone after connecting it through USB cable.
Step 17- Now you have to enter the FASTBOOT
mode again; for which you have to repeat the first two steps.
Step 18- Now type “
fastboot flash recovery PutImageFileHere.img”; Step Step 19- Replacing
of the file named “PutImageFileHere.img” with the one downloaded
in Step 4 is the next step to be followed.
Step 20-In
the command prompt, type in this-> “fastboot erase cache”.
Step 21- Now
you have to fir the option named HBOOT and then “RECOVERY” option is followed
by the HBOOT option.
Step 22- Now
select “install from zip”, and then “install” and then find the SuperSU zip
file and install it.
