Doesn’t matter how careful
you are, doesn’t matter how safely you keep your phone, someday or the other
you are going to face the situation when you don’t find your smartphone in your
pocket. So here’s what you can do to get your smartphone back where it belongs.
For Lost iPhone
“iOS Find My iPhone” is the application which allows
iPhone users to locate their lost iPhone. The application will run if you have iOS 5 or later. Also you need a valid iCloud
account and obviously network coverage or one Wi-Fi connection. Now first of
all, you need to install the app in your iPhone either from the App Store or
download the app from iTunes and then sync it with your device. Now you need to activate the application. For
this go to Settings, tap on iCloud option, enter your details and then turn on
Find my iPhone app.
Now you can get the location of your phone by using your
iCloud account details either from the net or another iOS device. This
application can display the location of your phone, produce a sound for easier
detection and can even erase all the data from phone in extreme cases.
For Lost Android Smartphone
Android users can download
Android Device Manager from the play store as a substitute for apple’s ”Find My
iPhone”. This application also has the same features as its counterpart like
device location, ringing your phone (even in silent mode), erasing your data
etc. After installing this application you have to sign-in using your google account
and also activate this application by allowing it to act as a Device
Administrator. This can be done from Setting and then selecting Security
Settings and then tap on “Select Device Administrators”.
Once you have lost
your phone (which should not happen), you can relocate your phone either by
Android Device Manager Website or from someone else’s phone which is having
Android Device Manager. After this you will have the location, as well as 3
options to choose from which are “Ring”, “Lock” and “Erase”.
Note: The above is one
of the many ways in which you can locate your missing smartphone.
