Lenovo
launched a new mid range phone in India earlier this month. While, Lenovo Vibe
X2 has earned quite good feedback from critics, only users can tell if it’s
worth it. The Chinese firm has recently bought Motorola too. The Chinese firm
also disclosed that it is aiming for large presence in smartphone market and
currently it is targeting Western European market.
Looks and Design:
Lenovo
has paid special attention to stylize its phone and its layered design makes it
stand apart from all phones currently being offered in the market. If we look
from the sides, the phone has three layers of different colors. It also offers
accessories like ‘Vibe extensions’ to enhance the sound and layered effect.
Another accessory is the Vibe X2 speaker which is a Bluetooth speaker with an
independent battery to serve long hours of audio playback.
It
is made of magnesium alloy and has a coating to prevent fingerprints.
The
phone measures 140.2 x 68.6 x 7.27 mm and weighs around 120 grams, which makes
it quite thin and light. It features a 5-inch capacitive, HD screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and pixel
depth of 441 pixels per inch.
Camera Quality:
It
offers a 13 megapixel rear and 5 megapixel front camera. Images taken from the
phone show a good color balance in all lighting conditions. Issues might crop
up with the instant capture feature because of the slow shutter speed. It
provides all basic options like panorama, HDR, burst and a beauty mode.
Operating System:
It
runs on customized Android 4.4. kitkat. It will function under its UI 2.0
skin. There are six customizable themes with icons and widgets displayed across home screens. One notable feature was the unlocking sleep screen in one tap and
quick menu access on a second tap.
Battery
Backup:
Battery
is a 2300 mAh Lithium polymer (non removable) which is quite decent and may last
an entire day on full charge. There is an extension to improve battery life
too.
Memory
Storage:
Storage
is 32 GB internal which might disappoint a few as it is not expandable with a
micro-SD card. So, it will leave you relying on cloud services. RAM given is 2
GB which is sufficient for daily purposes though we can’t be sure if it will
provide a very good gaming experience.
Processor/Clock
Speed:
An octa-core Mediatek processor made of ARM cortex A-17 and Cortex A-7 cores. Clock
speed is 2 GHz. This processor claims to outperform all others and ensures a
lag free experience to the user.
Phone
Connectivity:
It
supports 3G and 4G LTE apart from wi-fi, Bluetooth and micro USB.

Final
Conclusion:
Lenovo
seems quite poised to make a mark in the smartphone industry with its
continuous innovations. Vibe X2 displays the essence of this policy. The phone
is an interesting buy given its uniqueness in design though it will be facing
huge competition from Huawei’s Honor 6 and Xiaomi Mi4. How this phone fares,
only time and fate will tell.
So what did you like most in Lenovo Vibe X2??
