The next time you bobble
your smartphone onto the road, it could very well live to see another day.
Corning on Thursday launched Gorilla Glass 4, its strongest-ever glass for
ensuring smartphone screen protection. Gorilla Glass screens are on 3 billion
gadgets, including smartphones from Apple, HTC, Motorola, Nokia, and Samsung.
Gorilla Glass 4 claims to be an enormous venture, with Corning concentrating on
keeping the shatters that come about because of the sharp, sudden impact due to
the falls.
Corning guarantees the
glass is better at surviving the most widely recognized breakage situation i.e.
butterfingered users who drop their gadgets. Corning claims that its new glass
is about two times stronger than more seasoned aluminosilcate glass. The new Gorilla
Glass will be utilized as a part of smartphones or tablets to secure the glass
from shattering on the off chance that they're dropped.
It's not perfect though!!
In a test that included dropping gadgets from one meter height on a harsh
surface, Gorilla Glass 4 survived 80% of the time. That is a ton better than
the soda lime glass, which broke about 100% of the time.

Corning now supplies a
large portion of the smartphone producers and is present on numerous tablets,
including the ipad. It has been utilized on practically three billion gadgets,
as per the organization. However there are rumors that Apple has been
exploring an alleged unbreakable sapphire glass—which would, obviously, put a dent
in Corning's market share. On the off chance that Corning—or Apple, or some
other maker can improve the durability of our smartphones and tablets, who are
we to dispute !!
