Whenever
we purchase a smartphone, first thing we look for is the operating system. Google’s
android again proved that it is better than any other Operating system. For
the third quarter, total shipment of android based smartphones is 268 million
which was 206 million for the same quarter last year. It helped android to
cover 84 percent of total OS market.
These
stats were shown by strategy analytics on Friday. According to the executive director
of the same company Neil Mawston” Android leadership is still unbeatable by any
other operating system”.
On
the other hand when we see other Operating system like iOS, it has decreased
to 12.3 percent of the total market from 13.4 percent of last year for the same
quarter. The main reason may be the unavailability of the iPhone at the lower
markets. Recently launched iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus have huge demand in the market.
Apple is planning to provide these models in 115 countries by the end of the
year.
Microsoft holds third position by selling 10.5 million windows based smartphones
which covers 3.3 percent of the market as compared to the 4.1 percent of the last
year.
The total sale of Blackberry phone has dropped down to 2.3 million from 2.5
million of last year. Also it is ranked to fourth number by covering 0.7
percent of the total market.
But the good news is that total shipment of the smartphone is increased by 27
percent. Overall, 320 million smartphone has been sold in the third quarter
which were 253 million last year for the same quarter.
