HTC, or
High Tech Computer, the Taiwanese giant had started off its journey in the
smartphone market with HTC One and HTC one Max flagship. It is now one of the
best Android smartphones producing firms. HTC flaunts consistent success with a
mid-range family Desire. To add another feather to its cap, HTC has a new
member to the Desire lineage.
HTC had
earlier launched desire 820 and is now aiming to launch a mini version of the
phone D820mu. Reports say it was listed on HTC’s website which was removed
immediately. Then a China based shopping site also listed the phone. There is
no official announcement from HTC. Let’s see how much have the specifications
been scaled down to fit the price range and is it really worth the buy.
Key Dimensions Feature:
It is 150
mm tall, 72 mm wide and 9.5 mm deep which makes smaller and slimmer than desire
820. It weighs around 160 grams. The ‘mini’ contradictory to the name isn’t
much smaller than the bigger one and the difference actually lies in other
specifications.
Key Display Feature:
It has a
5 inch HD screen with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and pixel depth of 294
pixels per inch. It also sports HTC Sense 6 user interface that enhances touch
experience.
Processor Embedded:
It runs
on a 32 bit quad core processor with a clock speed of 1.2 GHz, make - Qualcomm
snapdragon 400 chipset.
Key Memory Feature:
It has a
decent memory capacity of 1 GB RAM and 8 GB built in which can be expanded up
to 32 GB via micro SD card.
Operating System:
It will
be pre-installed with Android version 4.4 kit-kat, though a Lollipop will be
better.
Key Camera Features:
In the
imaging section, it has an 8 mega pixels rear and 5 mega pixels front camera.
Battery Support:
It has a
2100 mAh battery which may sustain a day. Now you need not to worry about your battery power.
Connectivity Provided:
LTE
support with dual sim, wifi, Bluetooth and 3G is remarkable.
Key Sound Features:
It
features a BoomSound speaker which makes gives you better experience than any
other speakers.
What You Are Compromising:
By opting
for mini, we are compromising on a bigger screen that desire 820 offers. It has
a 5.5 inch screen as compared to the 5 inch screen that mini offers. We are
also missing out on a Qualcomm snapdragon 615 chipset, a RAM of 2 GB and
storage capacity of 16 GB. But, most importantly we are missing out on a
“selfie phone”. Desire 820 offered a 13 MP rear and an 8 MP front facing camera
which is a lot more lucrative than the mini counterpart.
Final Conclusion:
If cost
is major concern HTC desire mini is the savior because with the brand value of
HTC you are assured of good quality and performance of your phone. Rumors claim
the phone could be available for 14,000 INR in India if released here. It has
decent features given the price though you can’t flaunt it as a “selfie phone”.
HTC will face huge competition from phones in this range like the moto g2 which
has performed so well and is cheaper.
