Hardware
It has a 2.5 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon
801 processor, 3GB. This ensures a lag free experience even on heavy usage. It
comes with 16/64GB internal storage which is more than enough for day-to-day
uses.
Software
It comes out of the box with Android 4.3.3 Jellybean
with the customized MIUI. The MIUI removes the app drawer of the default
Android and puts everything on the home screen just like the IPhone.
The company also
announced its next MIUI version, MIUI 6, will launch on August 16 and is
expected to be running on the Mi 4.
Design:
Undeniably, from afar,
the black Mi 4's front face and frame reminds us of the iPhone 5 or 5s, but you
have to give credit to Foxconn and HiP (Xiaomi and its partners) for the extra
work gone into crafting the metal parts.
Apparently the shimmering
chamfer alone takes more than six hours to manufacture. They've also included a
nano-coating to the edges to deter fingerprints and liquids. The resulting
design is a 6.75mm-wide body that comfortably rests in your hand, and the phone
only weighs 149g.
Camera:
The 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel
front-facing camera on the Xiaomi Mi 4 are both of top quality. Both the
cameras are sporting Sony's stacked CMOS sensors which are a top of the line
sensor.
Storage:
The storage provided by this device is quite satisfactory
as it has a minimum of 16GB of internal storage. There is also a 64GB variant
available.
Battery Output:
The 3080mAh Li-ion battery is more
than enough for a normal day’s usage and enables you to use the phone to its
very limit.
A threat to Apple?:
Well in China it most certainly
is a threat to Apple. 95 % of device in Chinese market are Xiaomi’s. In global
market Xiaomi has 6% market share which is just a percent short of Apple’s.
Xiaomi is set to overtake Apple soon especially if the Iphone 6 will be highly
priced.
Conclusion:
Xiaomi
has ushered in a new race in the smartphone market with its Mi series. The Mi4
has all the specifications and quality to dominate the market. The question is
how well will the people like it.
