Few
days back, Karbonn was in headlines by announcing a smartphone for just £26
(approx INR 2700). This is not the first time Karbonn is releasing low budget
smartphone. Infact in India it has gained popularity mainly because of the low
end smartphones it has released here. Karbonn A50s will be known as the cheapest
smartphone in the world.
If
you are excited about getting an android powered touch-screen phone for INR
2790,don't be!! Because here’s the bad news, this phone rates very low on the performance
perspective. It offers 256 MB of RAM which will make playing even subway
surfers or temple run a daunting task. Not a gamer? Well, even the imaging
department is not impressive with a meager 2 mega pixels primary camera and
terrible 0.3 mega pixels front camera. Since android is not customized to run
on such less memory, the UI (user interface) lag may leave you struggling to
resume hung up screens. No, it doesn’t support 3G too. Basically this phone has nothing great to offer. But you could gift it to an elderly person or your
household aid who’s having a first-time experience at android phones. They’ll
probably be satisfied with basic calling services and praise the capacitive
“touch-screen”, lest they discover the shortcomings.
While
Karbonn sought refuge from competition in releasing low-end phone, it still has
a few rivals like Micromax blade x55, Videocon A10 and A24, Celkon Campus A35k.
Although Videocon A24 is priced a bit higher, it has larger screen, faster
processor and slightly higher mega pixel cameras. Another new phone in this
category is Celkon Campus A35k which has nearly same features as the former
except that it offers a better version of android (4.4.2 kitkat) at INR 3000.
So
let’s explore the features of Karbonn A50s:

weight makes it comfortable to carry. Now days it’s a trend to launch big screen
smartphone but they don’t understand that people love the phones which can be
operated by single hand only. For eg. for smartphones with 5 inches screen you need to use
both your hands to operate which is irritating.

RAM in 2700 INR but 256 MB of RAM is too less. They could have provided at
least 512 MB of RAM.

When
I heard of this smartphone I didn’t expect it to have wifi. But when I saw the features
I was shocked. Enabling wifi for low range device will attract the users and
surely this will increase the sale for the company. Beside wifi other features
were expected.

When
you go for purchasing any android smartphone, the first thing you ask to retailer is
what android OS does it have. This smartphone will be enabled with android OS
4.2.2 (jelly bean) which is not the latest one but users don’t expect more from a sub-3k phone.

Personally
I never used 1100 mAh battery. But I think by seeing the multimedia system of
the phone it can power your phone for one day.
Final Conclusion:
I
personally recommend this smartphone for low budget users. It has got all the necessary
features and surely people will love this smartphone.
