company, Karbonn has launched three smartphones embedded with MediaTek’s high
performance Octa-core processors clocked at 1.7GHz. The Titanium Octane and the Titanium Octane Plus
and Titanium Hexa are all set to bewilder the Indian smartphone market with their high performance and low price. These new phones are
priced at Rs 14,490 and Rs 17,990 and Rs 16,990.
The
Karbonn Titanium Octane has
a 5-inch HD IPS display. It runs on a 1.7GHz MediaTek MT6592 octa-core processor
with a RAM of 1 GB. It boasts of a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front
camera. This beast is powered with a 2000mAh battery. It has 16GB of internal
storage that is expandable up to 32GB.
The
Karbonn Titanium Octane Plus has
a 5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixel) IPS display. It runs on the octa-core 1.7GHz
MediaTek MT6592 processor. Unlike Octane it has 2GB of RAM. It boasts of a
powerful 16-megapixel autofocus rear camera with an amazing 8-megapixel front camera. This beast is also powered
with a 2000mAh battery similar to Titanium Octane. It has 16GB of internal
storage that is expandable up to 32GB.
The
Karbonn Titanium Hexa has
a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixel) LTPS display. It runs on a 1.5GHz MediaTek
MT6591 hexa-core processor. Like Octane Plus it has 2GB of RAM. It boasts of 13-MP
autofocus
rear camera with flash, and a 5-MP front camera. It is powered with a
2050mAh battery. It has 16GB of internal storage that is expandable up to 32GB.

At the launch event in New Delhi, we had the
opportunity of using Karbonn Titanium Octane Plus for a sometime. This is our review
of this smartphone.
Design
At
the launch, Karbonn showcased Titanium Octane Plus. Calling it an eye-catcher
would not be an overstatement. Unlike Karbonn Octane Plus or Titanium Hexa handsets,
the Titanium Octane has a curvy bottom panel and the side panels thick enough
for a firm and comfortable holding. The rear panel has a matte finish which
gives an extremely great grip. The looks and toughness is certainly worth
appreciation.
The
phone’s dimensions are 145.7 x 71.2 x 7.9 mm. The weight is lighter than most
other phones. The keys placement are also very comfortable and optimized for
comfort.
Display
The
Karbonn Titanium Octane has a 5 inch touchscreen. It has a HD(1280x720 pixels)
resolution decent display. It also has a decent viewing angle. Touch response
was smooth. In auto brightness mode, the Octane’s display looked adequately
bright indoors.
Camera and Storage
The
Karbonn Titanium Octane is equipped with a 13 MP auto focus rear camera. The LED
flash on the back panel is great for low light photography. It also has a front
5 MP camera. The camera looked better than many of its competitors, considering
it low light performance. The front camera is great and captures colors in
their true form.
The
memory of Karbonn Titanium Octane is unchallenged with 16GB internal and 32 GB
expandable external storage.
Performance
The
Karbonn Titanium Octane is powered by octa core processor Mediatek MT6592 with 1.7 GHz clock. It
is also equipped with 1GB RAM.
However
the cheery on the cake is that, this Android device comes with the latest
KITKAT operating system. This great combo guarantees epic speed from this
device. During our short experience, this phone managed to reboot and switch b/w
applications without any glitch or delays.
Verdict:
The conquest for a high-end smartphone with
a low price has begun, and the Karbonn Titanium Octane or Octane Plus or
Titanium Hexa can be great pick for the time. It is a complete package at an
affordable price. The Karbonn Titanium Octane or Octane Plus or Titanium Hexa are
proof that Indian companies are ready to produce world class devices with
style, function and durability. This array of smartphones by Karbonn has yet
