Top Notorious Hackers of the world

Today I am sharing with you the top notorious hackers of the world. I believe their work is worth mentioning.

Remember, I listing them and giving little information just in general no particular ordering is done because I believe they all are great in some or point of view.

 1. Gary McKinnon

Gary McKinnon is the number one hacker among his peers.  He hacked into the top U.S. Institution ex: U.S. military, Pentagon, NASA consumed to his hacking and reduced to sort of mockery. McKinnon is now facing imprisonment for 70 years and is not allowed to use internet.

You’ll we shocking by knowing that the motivation behind McKinnon’s large scale hackings, which he claim were in the search of information on UFOs. He believes that US government is hiding this information in their US military systems.

Quick note: This list of hacker is a list those hackers who came under spotlight. I believe there can be more good and notorious hackers who walk under silent steps.

 2. Robert Tappan Morris

Robert Morris, on November 2, 1988, he made 6,000 plus computers using a worm. This worm also took down one-tenth of the Internet. The reason behind doing this is, he wants to know how large the internet world is.

 He was imprisoned for 3 years. He was also sent to 400 hours of community service and was also fined $10,500. Now he is the professor at one of the most respected university in the world i.e. MIT, computer science and Artificial Intelligence lab.

 3. Kevin David Mitnick

 He started minor cyber-crimes from the age of twelve. He broke into several technology and telecommunication companies like Motorola, Nokia, Fujitsu and Sun Microsystems. He called himself Social Engineer and his activity social engineering to make his act legal.

He took all administrative privileges to IBM minicomputer at LOS Angeles for a bet. He was imprisoned for 5 years and 8 months. After the release, he decided to set up the Mitnick Security, which provide safety consultancy.

Kevin Poulsen is also known by the name Dark Dante. He is kind of Black  Hacker because most of his hacks include the abstraction of information for name, fame and money.

FBI was behind him, since when he hacked into their database.

 5. Jonathan James

He had been a first teenager to be held captive for the cybercrime, he was only 16 years old at that time. He also broken into the NASA and stolen some software of NASA. He had been accused to hack several websites on which he said that he was just fooling around and having a look and want to know, what he can do.

At the age of 25,  he committed suicide using a gun.

 6. Adrian Lamo

This one is my Favorite. Adrian Lamo was popularly known as “The Homeless Hacker.” He used libraries, coffee shops, and internet cafes as his hacking locations. He was famous for breaking into the High-profile computer networks—Microsoft, The New York Times, Yahoo!, and The MCI WorldCom.

He is presently working as a Threat Analyst!

 7. Vladimir Levin

Levin had been in spotlight for being involved in an attempt of transferring millions of dollars through Citibank computers.

 8. The Deceptive Duo

Deceptive Duo as the name implies is the team of two members and good names are : Benjamin Stark and Robert Lyttle. They breached several securities in different institutes, some of them are NASA, US navy, Department of Defense (DOD).

When they were asked why they done this they defended themselves by telling they were just trying security failure and trying to protect to American because of 9/11 incident.

Now they are the top security officials which help government institutes to re-plan their security design.

 9. Raphael Gray

At the age of 19 he started the mission to make a mutli-million pound credit-card. For this he hacked several computer networks and system around the world. He also published approximately 6,500 credit cards, and presented the example of weak security systems

 10.  Michael Calce

When started the hacking he was popularly known as Mafia Boy, when fads nabbed him, his name was restricted from getting public as he was minor at time. He had done hacking mainly for his pride and for establishing dominance for himself , and surely he does that by hacking top websites including, amazon.com, Dell, E-trade, etc.
